    Forum Moderator

Next Life Networks is seeking knowledgeable, enthusiastic and impartial members who are interested in assisting with our everlasting battle against "spammers", "rule breakers", and general "bad guys"! If you believe you're up for the task, we'd love to hear from you.

What does a Forum Moderator do?
Forum Mods will be tasked with handling daily duties, such as..

    • Locking, moving, and editing various topics
    • Flagging spam bots as spam accounts
    • Issuing appropriate warnings when necessary
    • Reviewing and handling of reports
    • Interacting with the community

What can't a Forum Moderator do?
Forum Mods, while granted access to a wide variety of tools and permissions, do have a few limitations, such as..

    • Inability to soft or hard delete topics / posts
    • Inability to hide / unhide topics
    • Inability to pin / unpin topics
    • Inability to view IP Addresses

Wait, why do we need Forum Moderators when the Elite Admin+ team and Global Moderators do all of that already?
The Forum Mod program offers us the ability to evaluate potential full-time Global Moderators with limited access. Everything a Forum Mod does is reversible, therefore no harm can be done by recruiting potentially disastrous applicants (which simply doesn't happen). In the event a Forum Mod impresses us, we will promote them to a full-time position as a Global Forum Moderator. Should the Forum Mod fail to impress us, we simply move them back to their original usergroup.

Are there any perks to the job?
No, and you shouldn't expect any. The position is completely volunteer. You will gain unfettered access to nearly all areas of the forum. You'll also have a shiny new Forum Moderator title and username color affixed to your profile.

    What are the expectations?
Aside from meeting discretionary criteria, we only ask that you devote a respectable amount of time to fulfilling your role. We won't require you to fill a quota or log a specific amount of hours but if we find that you're failing to meet reasonable standards, you will be dismissed from the team. Also, while a basic understanding of moderation tools is expected, we are fully committed to educating and mentoring you throughout your time as a Forum Moderator.

What is this criteria you speak of?
It's completely discretionary. Only Staff are privy to what it is.

How long will I be a Forum Moderator?
This will vary by user. Please be aware that performing hundreds of tasks in a week won't guarantee a promotion. We are seeking a variety of characteristics and if you do not possess them, you will not be promoted. Also note that promotions can sometimes be affected by need (or lack thereof) at the Moderator position.

    Prerequisites

    • Must have at least 50 posts
    • Must be 16 years of age or older
    • Must be able to read and write in English
    • Must have have a basic understanding of moderation and the tasks associated with it
    • Must have a Discord account (and have joined the Next Life Networks Discord Server) for off-site Staff communication [Microphone required]
    • Must not have held a Forum Moderator position within the last year

    Additional Notes:

    • Please do not apply if you are affiliated with any other network similar, or in competition with Next Life; you simply will not be accepted, and will be made a laughing stock.
    • This application process can be adjusted at any time, at Administration's discretion. It is your responsibility to ensure you're updated with the information provided.

    Trial Moderator (MilitaryRP)

What does a Trial Moderator do?
Trial Moderators will be tasked with handling any and all help tickets opened by players, as well as other staff on our MilitaryRP server. These ticket scenarios can range from simple question and answers, to handling player conduct complaints such as Random Deathmatch, Failure to Roleplay, No Intent to Roleplay, etc.

Are there any perks to the job?
No, and you shouldn't expect any. The position is completely volunteer. You will gain access to our Next Life Networks Staff forum (and our #staff-private Discord channel) where you'll be able to interact with the staff team exclusively. You'll also have a shiny new Trial Mod title and username color affixed to your profile.

Will I have moderation ability on the forums and/or Discord?
Absolutely not. Moderation of the forums as well as the Discord is a highly selective process, and the only individuals outside of the Forum Moderation Team with moderation ability are Head Administrators and Project Leaders.

    What are the expectations?
Aside from meeting discretionary criteria, we only ask that you devote a respectable amount of time to our community in it's entirety. This includes maintaining activity in-game, on Discord, and on the forums respectively. We won't require you to fill a quota or log a specific amount of hours, but if we find that you're failing to meet reasonable standards, you will be dismissed from the team.

    Prerequisites

    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • Account must be at least 7 days or older
    • Must be able to read and write in English
    • Must have have a basic understanding of moderation and the tasks associated with it
    • Must have a Discord account (and have joined the Next Life Networks Discord Server) for off-site Staff communication [Microphone required]

    Additional Notes:

    • Out of our available positions to apply for, our prerequisites are the most lax for the Support Team. We fully recognize that even the new guy may have considerable experience. This is not to suggest that we won't monitor our Support Team's answers to ensure our users are being provided with safe and accurate responses.
